This chilling short story starts off with the main character, Veronica, who’s currently in a police station with her boyfriend, Sebastian. All readers know is that something has gone horribly wrong. He’s bone white, shirt soaked with blood. She’s trying to desperately hold onto him, eyes swollen from crying. Then we go back a month, to when Veronica and Sebastian first met on their first date in a haunted restaurant…
I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed Dead Over Heels! At first I was a little unsure about it because I don’t usually read books that are primarily paranormal and are dark in nature. But this wasn’t too bad, it just felt like I was reading a really good thriller.
The story was well paced, and Braun was able to weave a gripping and shocking story in just 38 pages. My favourite part was probably the ending (even though it was the most scariest!), it was such a great twist and what I like, is that you can just sense that something bad is about to happen but you can’t put your finger on what. So that was a great, suspense filled ending.
I would definitely recommend for all to give this a try, especially if dark ghost stories are your cup of tea.
