Rating: 4.5 stars

I’m a huge fan of Cassandra Clare; I love all of her novels and thankfully, I’ve never felt worried about starting one of her new releases. I’ve always started her books with excitement and whilst there was never any doubt that I would love Queen of Air and Darkness, I did have expectations for what I hoped the novel would be able to deliver. Not only were there major problems that still needed solving, like how Emma and Julian would overcome the parabatai curse, or whether the political agenda of the Cohort could be stopped, but I was massively keen to see how the passing of an important character would be tackled. Main themes: Love, Family, Betrayal

Rating: 5 stars

Lady Midnight is set 5 years after the Dark War (The Mortal Instruments), and follows the lives of Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn, two characters introduced to the series in City of Heavenly Fire. At 12 years of age both became orphans; Emma’s parents were brutally murdered in an obscure manner, and Julian was left with no choice but to kill his father who had been Turned, in order to protect his younger siblings. Not only that, Julian’s older sister Helen had been exiled by the Clave, and his older brother Mark was taken by the fey, and he became apart of the Wild Hunt. So now, all grown up, it’s been interesting to see how these characters have coped since the unfortunate events from 5 years ago. Read more

A new year, new reading challenges, and of course new book releases!

#1 King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard30226723

This is the very much anticipated third instalment of the Red Queen series! With the cliffhanger that left me with so many questions at the end of Glass Sword, I really cannot wait to dive into King’s Cage. I’ve also kind of (really) missed the Silvers and their petty politics back at the palace, so I’m looking forward to seeing how they’ve been handling recent events. Plus, have you seen all the snippets Victoria’s been teasing us with? If not, be sure to check them out by clicking here because they’ve got me even more hyped for the release! There’s just a month to go, so mark 9th February in your calendars! Read more
